Region Supports Orphaned Japanese Girls
At Camino Real Region's 2001 Fall District Workshop, attendees wrote encouraging notes to Japanese girls who lost their parents during the Japanese earthquake and tsunami.
Both Camino Real Region and Japan Kita Region are part of Soroptimist International of the Americas. The Camino Real Region Board has voted to support Japan Kita Region's Project Kizuna - Heart to Heart. This is a three year project that provides scholarships to junior high school girls who lost their parents during the Japanese earthquake and tsunami on March 11, 2011.
At Camino Real Region's Fall Distric Workshop on October 22, 2011, attendees received a beautiful notecard and the attendees then wrote a comforting and encouraging note to the girls that are participating in the Heart to Heart Project. The Region Board committed to sending $10 for each card written to support Heart to Heart. The money will pass through the Soroptimist International of the Americas Disaster Relief Fund.
The printed words on the card read: "My prayer for you is a dream big enough to capture your heart, bright enough to illuminate your mind and deep enough to satisfy your spirit. May you find the strength to pursue it and be enriched by it across the years."
